  • Some people may wait until their symptoms are severely impacting their lives before seeking or finding the right treatment, but you don’t have to be suffering to seek treatment. If you’re feeling great you might want to come to work on underlying issues, prevent health problems in the future, or maintain your balance.

  • Clean, loose-fitting clothing is best. Ideally, the areas below the elbows and knees will be easily accessible to maintain your comfort throughout the session.

  • Most acupuncture points used are located below the elbows and knees, so acupuncture can be delivered with the patient fully clothed. Depending on the area required for treatment, different areas of your body may be exposed with your consent for short amounts of time. This might require you to remove your shirt for treatment of your back, or removal of trousers for treatment of the glutes and hamstring areas. Appropriate draping will be used throughout the session to ensure you are always covered as much as possible.

  • Acupuncture has both short and long term affects. Many people experience improvements in their symptoms within the first couple of treatments. However, as the effects of acupuncture are cumulative you may need continued care for chronic or complex problems. Additionally, it can take more consistent treatment to prevent the reoccurrence of symptoms and ensure you are feeling your best. The Three Phases of Care model allows you to see where you might be now and how many treatments you might need to get you back to feeling your best.
